Honorary Beatle Klaus Voormann has released a limited edition CD/DVD and book for his first ever album `A Sideman`s Journey`.
Voormann was associated with The Beatles in the early Hamburg days around 1962 before the group was signed to Parlophone.After The Beatles disbanded, Klaus played with John Lennon (Imagine), George Harrison (All Things Must Pass) and Ringo Starr (Ringo) as well on albums by Harry Nilsson (Nilsson Schmilsson), Lou Reed (Transformer) and Carly Simon (No Secrets).
The new album ‘A Sideman’s Journey’ features remakes of some of those tracks like ‘My Sweet Lord’ and ‘All Things Must Pass’ from ‘All Things Must Pass’, and ‘You’re Sixteen’ from ‘Ringo’.
Guests on ‘A Sideman’s Journey’ include Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Dr John, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and Joe Walsh.
This is Voormann’s first album ever under his own name. He decided to do it when he turned 70 last year.
