The Flaming Lips have recorded a complete cover of the Pink Floyd classic `Dark Side of the Moon`.
Singer Wayne Coyne has revealed to the LA Times that the The Flaming Lips have already completed the recording and plan to release it as their next album.Parts of the original album will stay, some parts will go and new parts will be added. “It’s kind of redone in the way a city is redone,” Coyne told the LA Times “There’s some great old structures you never want to tear down, and you take chances next to it and you build a new futuristic museum. I would never want people to think that if you saw us three years ago, what we’re doing now has nothing to do with that.”
There is no word on when the album will be released.
Pink Floyd released ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ on March 10, 1973.
The album stayed on the Billboard chart for 741 weeks (14 years) and sold an estimated 45 million copies.
