After more than 20 years together, A-Ha have decided they will split up after one final lap of the planet.
A posting at the band’s official website broke the news. It said, We've literally lived the ultimate boy's adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for.? Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else - and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music. We are retiring as a band, not as individuals. ?Change is always difficult and It is easy to get set in one's ways. Now it is time to move on.'A-Ha are one of the most successful acts Norway has produced. 2010 will mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album ‘Hunting High and Low’ and the hit ‘Take On Me’.
Since then, A-Ha released 9 studio albums and had 15 top 10 hits in the UK.
They have given themselves plenty of time to split. The world tour will end in Oslo on December 4th, 2010.
Specific dates and regions are yet-to-be advised. They will spend March in South America, May in North America, the summer months in Europe, then Japan and back to Europe.
While Australia does not have a specific timeframe, the website says, “The timeframe for tour dates in Australia is not confirmed, but it is the band's ambition to include Australia on the tour”.
