One week ago Kiss thought they were going to have the next number one album in America. Three days into the sales week it was well in front. But then Michael Buble put his album out early.
Buble’s new album ‘Crazy Love’ jumped right over the top of Kiss ‘Sonic Boom’ and then kept on going with just three days of sales. At the end of the week, Kiss ‘Sonic Boom’ sold 108,000 copies. Michael Buble ‘Call Me Irresponsible’ sold 132,000 copies.
Buble’s album was originally scheduled for release on October 13 but Warner moved it forward after his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The move robbed Kiss of what would have been their first US number one album and their first album in 11 years.
The last Kiss album was ‘Psycho Circus’ in 1998. It debuted and peaked at number 3.
Buble’s last album was ‘Call Me Irresponsible’ in 2007. It sold 212,000 units in the first week.
