Country superstar Garth Brooks has had enough of lying around in the background sipping tequila from the swimming pool. He has decided to go back to work.
Brooks has locked himself in for a residency at the Encore Theater at Steve Wynn’s Las Vegas casino from December. The show will be just Garth Brooks and a guitar. In Las Vegas today, he announced at a press conference "Steve started talking about this kind of show, just Garth and a guitar, because he said he thought it was something people ought to see. I said he couldn't afford me. I was wrong."
Garth Brooks, according to RIAA, is the biggest selling solo artist of the 20th Century.
Brooks retired from the biz in 2001 and moved to Oklahoma to raise his kids.
He will initially do a 5-year run of weekend shows starting on December 11. He will play once on Friday, twice on Saturday and once on Sunday so that it doesn’t interfere with the children’s schooling.
Steve Wynn has made available a private jet for Brooks to fly in from Oklahoma on Friday and leave on Sunday night.
After the first 5 weeks, Brooks can decide if he wishes to continue with the deal or walk away from it.
Brooks retired in 2001 to bring up the children. He has three young daughters.
