Bono and The Edge have made another one of their infamous long long long distance calls, calling the International Space Station from the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX while stopping by on their American tour.
They were also given a tour around the centre by astronauts based there. The duo were on the phone to four astronauts including ISS commander Frank DeWinne of Belgium.
While on the phone to the astronauts Bono gave a soundbyte-friendly snippet of motivational speech, telling them “you remind people on earth the impossible is possible. This is an amazing church of possibilities that you represent. Frank De Winne For President.”
De Winne has appeared in a number of U2’s current 360 World Tour shows on the big screen, so it’s not something too out of the ordinary for the band.
The astronauts described what they could see in space, when The Edge asked, “what about the U2 production - can you see that?”
What I want to know is, does Bono and The Edge actually sign in and pick up their NASA visitor passes under those names?
Also, am I the only person who thinks it’s really cool that they are literally on an old-style phone talking to astronauts and cosmonauts on the ISS, or are you with me on that?
