Muse easily had the number one album in Australia this week, outselling the number two spot by Black Eyed Peas by almost 4 to 1.
Muse ‘The Resistance’ sold 23,135 units in Australia to become one of the fastest selling albums of the year. Black Eyed Peas ‘The E.N.D.’ was well behind on 5,941 units. For Muse, it was been a long, steady climb or what used to be called once in the music biz ‘artist development’.
Constant touring and consistent releases have made Muse one of the great live acts of today.
They are also getting up to veteran status. Muse formed in 1994 and released their album ‘Showbiz’ in 1999.
The last album ‘Black Holes and Revelations’ from 2006 reached number one in Australia, the UK and Switzerland and went top 10 in the USA.
‘The Resistance’ is the band’s fifth studio album.
