John Hall, the former frontman for 70's rock band Orleans has been voted into the US Congress.
Hall, the Democrat member for upstate New York, ousted standing Republican Sue Kelly.His supporters included Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Steve Earle.
John Hall was an organizer of the 1979 environmental rally No Nukes, which also featured Browne, Bruce Springsteen, The Doobie Brothers and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
He ran his 2006 campaign on environmental issues, calling the current Bush policy "window dressing and a bunch of rhetoric"
Orleans 70's hits with Orleans included 'Still The One' and 'Dance With Me'. 'Still The One' was used by the Channel 9 network in Australia as its theme song for more than a decade.
