The Austereo share-price is now at risk following the calculated stunt where the horrendous humiliation on air of a 14-year old rape victim went belly-up.Austereo director Guy Dobson rang Undercover last week and confirmed that the Vile and Jackie O show does not use delay. His confirmation that by doing so made for better ratings makes the suspension of Vile and Jackie O all the more likely to be yet another headline grabber.
Austereo loves headlines. It craves headlines. They strategically plan to get headlines and this one hurt a very innocent victim, a 14-year old schoolgirl.
Suspending Vile Sandilands is not the answer. The problem is the immaturity that now controls the Austereo boardroom.
Austereo is in damage control. This is a company that forfeited decency for the sake of ratings and let the school kids take over the boardroom. Investors in this company should be concerned. Schoolboys are now controlling your investments. This is a share price ready to drop.
Ratings are good for radio. More ratings means more publicity and therefore more revenue but what happens when it goes wrong?
Austereo are sluts to a headline. This is a company that cannot bend over quick enough if it means higher ratings. That is why a puppet show like Kyle Sandilands is so important to them. Kyle Sandilands is their perfect call-girl.
Austereo is risking losing sponsors after not having the guts to stand up to its own puppet. The Vile Sandilands show has become a liability. The next move is that their investors will lose too.
Channel 10 should also take note. If this clown is allowed on Australian Idol this year, Idol will be toast.
