I can't wait until you get to hear the new Kisschasy album `Seizures`. It is a cracker.
Kisschasy absolutely nail it with ‘Seizures’. This is one hell of a great record in a time where great records are few and far between. I’ll go on record now and say this will be one of the big Aussie albums of 2009.What makes this album even more enjoyable is the fact that John Watson’s Eleven Records has always treated Kisschasy as an act in development. Eleven has given Kisschasy time to evolve and ‘Seizures’ is the result. John has known that this was a band that would grow into greatness and they have done it with ‘Seizures’.
‘Seizures’ puts Kisschasy on a whole new level.
From the title track, ‘Seizures’ sounds like an album that needs to be played on the radio and played live. Triple J should focus directly onto the title track.
‘Seizures’ is diverse. If Triple M don’t get ‘Generation Why’ I would be questioning the value of their programmers. It is the lead single.
It’s been a long time since you can flick to any track on an album and get a great song. ‘Turnaround’ has a good melody and a hint of power-pop. Don’t be surprised if American programmers get this album before Australians do.
‘Lets Get Personal’ could be the cross-over track that puts Kisschasy on new airwaves. Given enough popularity under the belt and ARN could look at this one. So too should ‘Dinosaur’ at the end of the album. Kisschasy have grown into the band that Eleven envisioned at the start with ‘Seizures’. That's right Charlie, wrap your ears around this one.
The album was produced in Los Angeles with Bob Schnapf (Beck, Powderfinger).
The title came after singer Darren Cordeaux read a book by Dr Oliver Sacks describing how physical seizures caused some patients to vividly recall long forgotten memories.
‘Seizures’ is the third album by Kisschasy. They should be proud that they have delivered a world-class release.
‘Generation Why’ is out now.
‘Seizures’ will be released on August 21.
