Melbourne Recital Centre is heading into the next phase of the Opus 09 series by expanding its live performances featuring rising classical stars.
Dr. Jacques De Vos Malan, CEO of the Melbourne Recital Centre, announced the new series at a media gathering in the Salon room of the Centre this morning. He said that the centre had “a responsibility to serve as a platform for young and emerging professional artists and ensembles”.
The Melbourne Recital Centre gives musically talented youth an opportunity to develop and establish a long-term career in the music industry.
The third program will support local and interstate artists by giving the performers the opportunity to perform live and be heard nationally on ABC radio.
Opus 09 No 3 will include an international program with Felipe Browne from Chile performing on September 14 and Canadian born Marc-Andre Hamelin performing on September 21.
Technology will be a big part of no 3. Project-driven group Aphids will perform the unique works Xantolo on November 2 and System Building on November 11.
What the Melbourne Recital Centre does is offer youth an alternative but production role in the music business by developing musical talent that can be applied to a career.
Early booking for season 3 will be on sale from tomorrow from the Melbourne Recital Centre website.
