Australia was lacking a power-pop band. Then along came The Wellingtons.
Think Weezer, think Fountains of Wayne and you should start to get a idea of where The Wellingtons are coming from. In act they have no hesitation in citing FOW and Weezer as major influences. (Note to Rivers Cuomo, check out this band).So, who are The Wellingtons?
Well they formed in Melbourne in 2005. So far they have three albums under their belt.
The current line-up is Zac Anthony on guitar and vocals, Kate Goldby on bass and vocals, Koji Asano on guitar and vocals, Amy Walters on keyboards and vocals and Gustav Lindstom on drums.
They have already toured the USA and songs from their first album were used on the TV hit show ‘How I Met Your Mother’, as well in some Japanese television commercials.
The Wellingtons are currently recording their 4th album.
If Rivers Cuomo needs a great support act for the upcoming Weezer Australian tour, then this is that band.
