Prog-pop dinosaurs Genesis have announced a 2007 European tour, their first in 15 years.
Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks will reunite for the 20-date tour, which kicks off in Helsinki on 11 June, before winding up in Rome on 14 July. Former members Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett both declined to take part in the comeback tour.Collins denied suggestions that the tour was a money-spinning exercise, telling reporters, "We're all loaded enough not to worry about where the next million or two is coming from." He added, "If money was the issue, we'd be playing more than 20 shows."
Genesis also revealed that the band originally intended to recruit Gabriel and Hackett with an eye to performing the entire 1974 concept album 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway'. Collins discussed Gabriel's absence from the tour, explaining, "Peter has been doing his thing since he left and he is just a little over-cautious about going back."
A US tour will likely follow the European dates.
