More than two weeks after the death of Michael Jackson the singer is yet to be buried.
As dramatic as he was in life, his death is equally full of drama with indecision within the family thought to be the reason the singer has not been allowed to rest in peace.Brother Jermaine Jackson was quite outspoken when he said that he wanted Michael to be buried at his former home Neverland but mother Katherine doesn’t want her son to return to the place he said he would never go back to.
Michael wrote his will in 2002 but did not stipulate his final burial wishes. Under Californian law, that decision falls to the next of kin, which in this case is Katherine.
Also under Californian law, a body cannot be buried on private property but a exception for Jackson could takes months, considering nearby neighbours will have the right to appeal.
For the family, a Neverland burial will be a rich revenue vein. Turning Neverland into a Californian Graceland would net the family ongoing revenues worth 10s of millions a year.
The body is currently being kept in a secret location. The New York Post is reporting that it is being held in a private crypt owned by Motown founder Berry Gordy.
