David Geffen Sells Painting For $140 million

Asylum/Geffen Records/Dreamworks founder David Geffen has sold his Jackson Pollock painting "No. 5, 1948" for $140 million.

Reuters reports that the new owner of the painting is Mexican financier David Martinez.

The sale sets a new record for the price paid for a painting. In June, a 1907 portrait by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt sold for $135 million.

The Pollock painting is 4 feet by 8 feet in size.
