Metal legends Judas Priest are in a U.K. studio as we speak, recording the music for their upcoming "metal opera" album, 'Nostradamus', while front man Rob Halford works on lyrics in San Diego, CA.
"I'm slaving away on the 'Nostradamus' lyrics, which is the new Judas Priest album due out in '07" Priest singer and metal god Rob Halford told Undercover. "[I've been] busy as ever. I've been busy for the past 35 years of my life!""We've got the brand new Priest stuff in '07 with 'Nostradamus', which is our first ever conceptual album," said Halford, "It's shaped up as a metal opera, which, who'd of thought it, three decades later, that Priest has done just about everything and we decide to do a metal opera and put more weight on our back."
"So we've got that coming up and that's what I'm doing in San Diego, working on lyrics for that. All the songwriting is done and the lads are back in the U.K. doing the tracking and when it is time for me to do my screaming and wailing and my vocal operatics I'll be back in the U.K. to do that."
Halford speaks with genuine excitement as he talks about Priest, the band he shot to prominence with in the late 60s, and after over a decade of absence recently reunited with and recorded 2005's 'Angel Of Retribution'.
"My head's full of the music. I've got the demos here and I listen to them every day and I'm just so excited about what we're going to share with the Priest fans and metal fans around the world next year," he said.
If you can't wait for the new Judas Priest album next year, you can also pick up Halford: Metal God Essentials, a collection of Halford and Fight material from 1992 - 2006, which features two new tracks from Halford.
