Oasis Give Fans A Freebie

Mon, 08 Jun 2009 04:29:42 +1000

A cash back offer from the Gallagher brothers is something too good to refuse.

Oasis offered fans refunds after their concert was hit by two major technical faults.

The British rockers were performing to 70,000 people at Manchester's Heaton Park last night (04.06.09) but the sound system blew as frontman Liam Gallagher belted out the first song, 'Rock 'n' Roll Star'.

After technicians attempted to fix the problem, the group returned but again the power failed, much to the dismay of the crowd.

One said: "It was mayhem. They came on at 9pm and half an hour later still hadn't finished a song. The crowd got a bit rowdy and the band put an apology on the big screen, saying it was a technical fault and they were trying to fix it."

Liam and brother Noel then came on stage and promised everyone a refund on tickets.

The singer said: "Sorry about that. This is a free show now. Everyone will get a refund."

Guitarist Noel added: "The curfew's 11pm, but we'll play until they kick us off. Keep your ticket and you'll get your money back."

After the problem was fixed the band - which also includes guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock - played a blistering set including classic songs 'Cigarettes And Alcohol', 'Live Forever' and 'Champagne Supernova'.

They closed with their signature cover of Beatles' track 'I Am The Walrus',
much to the delight of fans.

Meanwhile, Noel has spoken of his excitement at the summer of concerts Oasis
have lined up.

As well as playing two more nights at Heaton Park, the group are performing at Wembley Stadium, Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, Sunderland's Stadium of Light, Slane Castle in Dublin and are headlining the V Festival and the 42-year-old rocker can't wait.

He said: "All the shows will be special. We're lucky enough to be playing some amazing places. I can't wait. The summer of bigness is upon us!"
