Susan Boyle spent time at The Priory yesterday, a celebrity rehab clinic in London, after what is being reported to have been an emotional breakdown.
The 48-year old singer who sprung to instant fame less than 2 months ago off the back of the reality show Britain’s Got Talent was said to be “exhausted” and “drained” according to a spokesperson from TV channel ITV.Boyle was reported to have been acting strangely in her hotel at around 6pm on Sunday night. UK newspaper The Sun reports she was “spaced out”. An ambulance was called and she voluntarily left for the hospital.
Despite the worldwide focus on Boyle, at the last moment the votes did not come through. Instead of winning Britain’s Got Talent, she came in second place.
Street dance troupe Diversity were the surprise winners. Boyle was gracious in defeat stating during the show that “the best people won”.
It is not known why public opinion swayed away from Susan in the final count. It could have been a back-lash to her instant fame. It could have been simply people not voting because they didn’t expect her to lose.
