Iggy And The Stooges Reunite For Raw Power

Iggy Pop has revealed plans to bring back Iggy and the Stooges to perform tracks from their legendary album ‘Raw Power’.

Despite the fact that bassist (on Raw Power) Ron Asheton is no longer with us, Pop told The Australian “there is always Iggy and the Stooges, the second growth of the band”.

“I had a meeting in LA last week with James (Williamson),” Pop said. “It was the first time we had seen each other in 30 years. So we talked about doing something together. Raw Power would be the repertoire.”

The Stooges last toured Australia in 2003 as part of the Big Day Out tour, but nothing was performed from ‘Raw Power’ because the line up was different to that which had toured.

Mike Watt of the Minutemen will likely be the replacement for Asheton on the upcoming tour, although there is no word of any time frame.

Pop has recently released a jazz-inspired album called ‘Preliminaires’, which was inspired by French writer Michel Houellebecq's novel, ‘The Possibility of an Island’.
