Video Hits host Axle Whitehead gets rapped over the knuckles for exposing himself onstage at the ARIAs.
The ex-Australian Idol contestant and host of Ten Network music program Video Hits Axle Whitehead felt compelled to expose his penis onstage at the Australian Recording Industry Association Awards on Sunday October 29.Although the incident was not televised, at the time the focus was on Whitehead as he joined fellow music television host Jabba to present one of two ARIAs to Adelaide hip hop sensation Hilltop Hoods. Whitehead also gesticulated lewdly with the pointy statuette as the crew came up to accept the award.
A Ten Network spokeswoman told Associated Press that the stunt was "inappropriate and Ten and ARIA producers, Roving Enterprises, do not condone it." The Daily Telegraph's Sydney Confidential column reported that Whitehead received a "severe spray" by organisers after he returned backstage.
Although Whitehead has refused to comment as yet (hopefully because he has a particularly painful hangover), co-host Jabba told the column, "My understanding is that he wasn't wearing any undies, his fly was open and some of the lunch meat fell out of the sandwich."
