The Living End`s Chris Cheney, You Am I`s Tim Rogers, Grinspoon`s Phil Jamieson and Josh Pyke have teamed up to perform The Beatles` The White Album in its entirity.
The concerts will take place in August and mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary bands classic album.“I always loved the sound of The Beatles when they let loose and sounded tough, and to me The White Album has a perfect balance of rock’n’roll abandonmentàwith the incredible songwriting skills they’re so revered for," Chris said in a statement.
Stewart D’Arietta is the musical director of the event. He has put together a 17-piece band to back the singers.
“The Beatles were the first band that made any kind of impact on me as a kid, curled up in the front room with my parents’ record collection. The harmonies, the deceptively simple songs, and the amazingly creative production are all elements that I still draw upon in my music today,” added Josh Pyke.
Dates are:
August 4, Melbourne, Hamer Hall
August 6, Brisbane, QPAC
August 7 and 8, Sydney, Opera House
