It is official. Bob Dylan has become the oldest person ever to have an album debut at the top of the English charts.
Dylan came in at no. 1 this week on the UK chart with his album ‘Together Through Life'.At 67-years old, Bob is just slightly older than when Neil Diamond debuted at the top with ‘Home After Dark’ in England one year ago. Diamond was 67 and 4 months when he topped the UK chart. Dylan is 67 and 11 months.
‘Together Through Life’ is the 4th in a series of brilliant albums for Dylan. He resurrected his lagging career a decade ago with ‘Time Out Of Mind’ and managed to reach the number 3 spot with ‘Love and Theft’ in 2001 and ‘Modern Times’ in 2006.
His last UK number one was in 1970. In fact, he had two top selling albums in England that year with ‘Self Portrait’ and ‘New Morning’.
‘Together Through Life’ replaced Lady GaGa ‘The Fame’ on the chart this week. The also outsold the hot favourite by The Enemy ‘Music For The People’.
