Its amazing how the music industry has changed. `School`s Out` was Alice Cooper`s 5th studio album, but the first to break him worldwide. Imagine any label having that sort of commitment to an artist today?
‘School’s Out’ was released in 1972. The 37 minute 13 second rock masterpiece has the most outrageous record sleeve of the day. It opened up as a school desk and the vinyl album inside was covered in a pair of paper girl’s panties. However, the image of the cover wasn’t the problem. The original artwork was recalled because the panties were not flame retardant.
Alice Cooper was still a band at this stage. It was Alice with Glen Buxton on lead guitar, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar and Dennis Dunaway on drums.
Bob Ezrin produced the album, right at the start of his career. He recently did that U2 and Green Day duet.
