Alex Lloyd will celebrate Record Store Day Australia from JB Hi-Fi in Perth on April 18.
Record Store Day Australia is a day where the stores are inviting music fans to come in, browse around and connect with the old feeling of discovering music in stores. As part of Record Store Day Australia, artists will be flocking in to perform and sing, such as Lloyd’s visit in Perth, Wendy Matthews at Songland in Canberra and Ronan Keating at Mall Music in Sydney.
“I still love getting into a record store to seek out new albums from my favourite artists - I remember just before Christmas going and grabbing Beyonce’s new album, checking out the packaging, the credits, that kind of stuff, it’s still a real thrill for me. Its great fun to go in and check out the new releases and displays, and I hope Record Store Day encourages more people to do this,” singer Paulini Curuenavuli said.
Molly is a big fan of the store. "I've always loved record stores,” he says. “I can still remember the thrill of buying the latest Beatles album, taking it home, studying the artwork and putting the record on. I think all true music fans love record stores. It's all about the thrill of discovery. Elton John is one of the biggest music fans I know. During his 2002 Australian tour, Elton discovered Australia's Catherine Britt's debut album, Dusty Smiles And Heartbreak Cures, while he was shopping at a record store in Sydney. Elton later bought 30 copies of the album and they ended up doing a duet together. I remember one day shopping with Elton at Mighty Music Machine in South Yarra. He bought just about every new release. The bill came to thousands of dollars. Then he couldn't find his credit card and it looked like I was going to have to pay for it all! Fortunately, Elton found his card."
