Chris Brown appeared in court in Los Angeles today on two felony counts for the alleged beating of his girlfriend Rihanna.
The singer pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and making criminal threats in the early hours of the day that the couple would have performed at the Grammy Awards.A photo of a badly beaten Rihanna appeared online a few days later but the 19-year old Brown has apparently turned into Bart Simpson’s ‘I Didn’t Do It’ character.
Considering Rihanna’s police report it was known that Brown punched, choked and threatened to kill his girlfriend following an argument on the way home from Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party in the Hollywood suburb of Hancock Park.
Brown is facing four years jail if convicted of the assault but according to him, he didn’t do it.
Brown’s lawyer is Mark Geragos, the same lawyer who represented Michael Jackson in the child abuse case.
A week after the attack, Rihanna and Brown were back together prompting a plea from
Oprah Winfrey warning Rihanna that Brown “will hit you again”.
Rihanna is reported to be at her home in Barbados but will testify if required.
The case is expected to end with Brown accepting a deal for lesser charges.
