We are all getter older. So are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In May, the Turtles will turn 25.
As a “shellebration” to the Turtles, New York’s Empire State Building is going to “go green” on April 23rd in honor if the cities heroes from the Hudson River. As night falls, the iconic building will cast a green glow.Also that evening at the Tribecca Film Festival, the original TMNT movie will screen for 10,000 film-goers.
New York won’t be the only place to feel the TMNT love. The TMNT party bus will do a cross-country trip visiting 10 cities after the New York experience.
Other events include the 1990 film screening at the World Financial Center Plaza with April O’Neill in attendance.
“When Kevin (Eastman) and I first came up with the concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles twenty-five years ago, I never imagined how popular they would be”, said Peter Laird, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. “The evolution of the Turtle brand has been awesome to watch, and it is mind-blowing to see how Leo, Mikey, Don and Raph have become a part of Americana. I am happy the Shell-ebration is paying tribute to all the fans, young and old, that continue to cherish the Turtles a quarter-century later.”
