Rapper T.I, well spend the next year and a bit behind bars.
The Grammy Award winning performer was sentenced today over a 2007 felony weapon charge.On October 13, 2007, he was arrested after attempting to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers.
In a statement, T.I. whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr, said "Today I would like to say thank-you to some, and apologize to all,"
"Everything I learned was through trial and error. I've learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won't make the same mistakes as I."
The maximum sentence for the offense could have been 10 years. He must also complete 1000 hours of community service and pay a $100,000 fine.
T.I. must turn himself in within the next 30 to 60 days.
However, he has already spent 305 days in home detention. It is expected that that time will be considered back for today’s sentence.
