The second Rob Thomas solo album will be titled ‘cradlesong’.
Thomas began work on ‘cradlesong’ a year ago and had a lot of it done by the end of 2008.He calls the sound of the album “the usual mish-mosh of styles” but has taken on a world music influence with sounds from South America and Africa.
Thomas describes the album as an experiment. “We started off with the idea of doing a newer version of (Paul Simon's) The Rhythm of the Saints, and that kinda carried us a long way through. It gave us a whole new bed to work with, like 'How do I get my pop sensibility around this and work it into that?' It was a lot of fun. But you go through different phases when you're writing; it took a different turn, and I just followed it, too,” he said in a statement.
‘cradlesong’ will be released on June 30. The first single ‘Her Diamonds’ will be released in April.
