One of the cool things at SXSW is you never know who you will meet. Walking down San Jacinto outside the British Music Embassy, we start talking to a guy named Darren who says “hey you want to meet Mickey Dale from Embrace. He is around the corner”.
So off we march, around the back of the building and there is Mickey Dale, the keyboard player from Embrace, hanging with his other band Talk To Angels. Darren is their manager.Mickey introduced us to what he called “my boy band”.
Talk To Angels are Craig Kaye (Vocals/Guitar), Chris Robbins (Backing Vocals/Bass), Jamie Lofthouse (Drums) and Mickey Dale (Keyboards).
As we discovered, Mickey is still with Embrace and Talk To Angels is the band he is doing in their downtime.
I was literally discovering who Talk To Angels were as this interview happened. There was no prep, no research, I found out who they were just minutes before this interview.
Lucky for me I just happened to have a broadcast quality video camera with me and Undercover photographer Ros O’Gorman armed and ready to start snapping.
