Sprightly UK pop rock sensation Kaiser Chiefs have finished recording 22 tracks for their sophomore album.
Their 'Employment' debut in 2005 was a revelation for the so-catchy-they're-annoying Brits. It opened at number 3 on the UK charts and three singles 'Every Day I Love You Less And Less', 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Modern Way' all hit top 20 there. They scored three Brit Awards this year, for best British rock act, live act, and group, and NME's Best Album award. The band told Billboard that the new album, recorded in Oxfordshire over the last six weeks, is planned for release in early 2007. They recorded 22 tracks for it, but will likely whittle them down to 13 or 14. They keep the pithy songs coming with titles like 'Heat Dies Down' (about their new found fame), 'Highroyds' (a psychiatric care facility in their hometown), 'Angry Mob', 'Try Your Best', 'Everything Is Average Nowadays' and 'Love's Not a Competition (But I'm Winning)'.
Billboard reports that the band plan a US tour in 2007. They're also confirmed for the Transmusicales Festival in France this December.
