JD Fortune has revised his story about being fired by INXS. He now says that he was not fired at Hong Kong airport.
In an interview with Sun Media in Canada, Fortune now says. "That was sort of a misquote (on my part). It was the proverbial handshake. Nobody really said, 'Thanks a lot, kid.' I thought we were going to see each other again. It was kind of like, 'Hey, hey, I'll catch up with you later.' "The 35-year old singer won the reality show Rock Star INXS and recorded one album with the band. He also got to tour the world as lead singer of the legendary Aussie group.
However, in a bizarre appearance on Canadian television a few weeks ago, Fortune claimed he was homeless and living in his car, was doing cocaine when in the band and was fired by the band as he was leaving Hong Kong.
INXS spokesperson Chris Murphy said in a statement that the band was working on a new album and that Fortune was going to be his next call, but not now.
Fortune was talking up his debut solo album as used his moment on the podium to score a bit of controversy. It worked.
As for what INXS are up to in the studio. Who knows? All we do know is that Murphy has set the bar extremely high by stating that is of Kick proportions.
Kick, the biggest selling INXS album, sold more than 10 million units in America alone. That is a lot to live up too.
Fortune has completed album The Death of the Motivational Speaker and is currently shopping it for a release.
