Midnight Oil will reunite with Peter Garrett for the Sound Relief concert but before then they will do a couple of warm-up shows in Canberra.
The last time Midnight Oil played together was in 2005 for the Wave Aid Tsunami Relief Concert. This reunion has come together quickly for the band but it is a one-off. Bones Hillman now lives in Nashville and Peter is a politician, so there is no chance of this developing into a full-blown reunion tour.
Jim Moginie, Martin Rotsey and Rob Hirst have been recording with new Australian resident Brian Ritchie from Violent Femmes for an upcoming album and will return to that project after this benefit.
The Sound Relief show will only be a 20-30 minute set, so for Oils fans, this will be the only chance to see the band do a complete show with all of their power and their passion.
The shows will be on March 12 and 13 at the Royal Theatre, Canberra.
Tickets are $80, available from 9am Monday March 2nd through Ticketek.co..au or by phoning 132849.
