Kylie Minogue was once a support act for Cut Copy, well sort of.
In an exclusive interview with Undercover to discuss their nomination for the Australian Music Prize, lead singer Dan Whitford revealed that Kylie once went on before them at a show in Canada.“We played in Columbia last year,” he tells Undercover. “We were the first band to play there since INXS. It just us and Kylie Minogue. We played after Kylie so technically she supported us”.
“We technically headlined the show,” added guitarist Tim Hoey.
Cut Copy has made the shortlist for the Australian Music Prize with their second album ‘In Ghost Colours’.
“We were just happy to have the record out when it came out last year,” Tim said. “It was something we were really proud of, not only in Australia but overseas as well. We seemed to have established an audience everywhere. We are really happy that people are really starting to take notice of what we are doing”.
The origins of a third album are now swelling around in their head but it won’t be ready for release until 2010.
The Shortlist for The Amp 2008 is as follows:-
