Russell Morris has pieced together two of his 40-year old classics for the very first time in concert.
Yesterday (Sunday, February 22, 2009), Morris performed ‘The Real Thing’ and ‘Part Three Into Paper Walls’ as one piece for the very first time. Both songs were number one hits in 1969. ‘The Real Thing’ was written by Johnny Young and produced by Ian Molly Meldrum. ‘Part Three Into Paper Walls’ was the follow-up.
Meldrum came along to Kew RSL to watch his old mate perform the work they did together 40 years earlier, but the show was not for the old stuff, it was for the new.
Russell was launching his new album ‘Jump Start Diary’, his first album of new material since 1991. He was also making a video for the song ‘Get Your Mind Right’.
The show featured two sets with all of the old hits mixed in with tracks from the new album.
