Jay-Z, the music mogul and rapper who spearheaded the career of Rihanna during his time as CEO of Def Jam, has commented on the Chris Brown and Rihanna news of the week.
"It's not a sound bite, this is a real situation," he told reporters. "If you can't have compassion for others ... just imagine it being your sister or your mom or someone like that, then think about how you should talk about that”.He urged the media to support Rihanna at this time. "I just think we all should just support her. She's going through a tough time. You gotta realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."
Rihanna is still just 20-years old. She will turn 21 on February 20.
Robyn Rihanna Fenty is from Barbados. When she was 16, she released her debut album ‘Music Of The Sun’ and had her first hit with ‘Pon de Replay’.
The hits followed. ‘SOS’, ‘Umbrella’, ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and ‘Take A Bow’ have added to his hitmaking resume.
Last weekend, boyfriend Chris Brown bashed her, bruising her face and cutting her lip. She was due to perform at the Grammy Awards last Sunday night but had to cancel the perform.
Today, Brown isn’t a statement saying he was sorry.
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” the statement read. “I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."
Brown handed himself into police last Monday. He was released on $50,000 bail.
