The announcement of the 2008 shortlist for the Australian Music Prize will be made during the St Kilda Festival this weekend but we already know who one of the finalists is. It is Cut Copy.
Cut Copy DJs will perform on Sunday afternoon for the big final shortlist announcement.“The Amp has announced Cut Copy’s nomination ahead of time so that fans of Cut Copy DJs don’t miss out on what is bound to be one of their legendary DJ sets,” director Tracey Grimson said in a statement.
And with that, the honor of announcing the other finalist has fallen to the band.
“This is a great coup for The Amp - to have an artist that’s so high profile and with so much creative credibility helping us announce the Shortlist,” she said.
9 Australian acts will make up the final few for the AMP shortlist. The winner will be announced on March 13 in Sydney.
The AMP winner will receive 30,000 big ones from PPCA.
Previous winners have been The Drones, Augie March and The Mess Hall. This is the 4th year for the Aussie prize.
Cut Copy DJs will be on the main stage on Sunday at 4.45pm at the St Kilda Festival.
