Thu, 29 Jan 2009 01:47:15 +1100

Meat Loaf is about to hit a whole new generation. He is going to appear on a children`s TV show.

The 61-year-old rocker will feature in an episode of new 13-part UK TV series 'Bookaboo’ - which is aimed at helping children learn to read - where he will read a book to a rock star puppy who has to hear 'a story a day or he just can’t play'.

Meat Loaf - who will read 'The Lamb Who Came for Dinner’ on the show - offered tips for adults planning to tell their kids stories, saying: 'You need to have fun with reading, you need to be a little animated and if it's scary make them shiver under the covers. If it's friendly and happy make them feel fuzzy and warm.'

Meat Loaf - real name Marvin Lee Aday - raised two daughters, Pearl and Amanda, with his ex-wife Leslie.

Other celebrities set to appear on the programme include former Spice Girl Mel C - who is currently expecting her first child - singer Alesha Dixon and former England soccer star David Seaman.

The show starts on CITV on March 2.
