Unconfirmed newspaper reports from the UK suggest that The Faces have wrapped up work on their first album in more than three decades.
Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones are said to have recorded the album during some whirlwind sessions in Costa Rica, Bermuda and Miami, Florida.The Faces only made four albums, the last being ‘Ooh La La’ in 1973. The big one was ‘A Nod Is As Good As A Wink ... To A Blind Horse’ in 1971. It featured the now classic ‘Stay With Me’, still a staple of the Rod Stewart setlist.
The Faces reunion is one of the most anticipated reunions in years. Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, has confirmed that he will take the place of original bass player Ronnie Lane, who died in 1997.
The Faces broke up in 1974 just as Rod Stewart became a superstar. Ron Wood went on to join the Rolling Stones.
The last complete performance by the band was in 1986 when they reformed at the end of one of Stewart’s shows for the encore. Ronnie Lane sang from a wheelchair but was in advanced stages of multiple sclerosis at that stage. Bill Wyman played bass that night.
The Faces were one of the most influential UK bands of the 70s. Their sounds are heard in recordings by Primal Scream and The Black Crowes.
