The Church will release a series of CDs this year with first being excerpts from a soundtrack for science-fiction writer Jeff VanderMeer.
‘Shriek’ is a soundtrack with a difference. There is no movie. It is a soundtrack to a book.VanderMeer has influenced for sounds for the album and in turn The Church music has been an influence on him.
Both the band and the author came together to collaborate on the combined project.
Text from the book has been made into lyrics for the album. According to The Church, “the two go together like some archaic crime”.

The album has been released on the band’s own Unorthodox Records. More new music from The Church will be released this year.
