B-52’s frontman Fred Schneider can die a happy man. He has met his hero Soupy Sales.
83-year old Soupy Sales is the American comedian and actor who had a long-running children’s show in the 50s and 60s.“I finally got to meet my Idol when I was a kid, Soupy Sales,” Fred wrote in a blog at his MySpace site. ‘God I loved his show. It was hysterical and really more adult than kiddie”.
Fred remembers the characters vividly. “My favourites were Hobart and Reba, a married couple whose heads would pop out of a pot belly stove and argue with each other. It was surreal,” he said.
In fact, it has been a big week for the star struck Schneider. “I also got to meet Larry Storch who was in lots of great movies and also co-starred on a great 60’s show, F Troop”.
It is now believed but unsubstantiated that the last remaining Golden Girls and Will Robinson from Lost In Space have taken out restraining orders against Fred.
Do check out B-52’s ‘Funplex’ album of 2008. It was one of the great albums of the year that just didn’t get enough notice.
