Kings Of Leon `Only By The Night` has maintained its lead as biggest selling album of 2008 so far, but we may be in for a photo finish.
Pink ‘Funhouse’ sold just over 6000 more units than KOL last week closing the gap between the number one and number two top sellers by just under 10,000 units. With sales from 10 retail days yet to be counted, it is a close race.
The Top 5 did have one place change this week. As expected, the ‘Mamma Mia’ soundtrack replaced Metallica ‘Death Magnetic’ in the Top 5.
We can pretty much lock in AC/DC ‘Black Ice` at 3 and Coldplay ‘Viva La Vida’ at 4. Those positions are unlikely to change.
However, the outsider is Andre Rieu. As a DVD, ‘Live In Australia’ does not count towards the album chart but in sales on CD and DVD, the title has sold 160,472 units in two weeks. It could very well end up being the 4th biggest music seller of 2008.
Here are the sales figures as of this week:
1. Kings Of Leon : Only By The Night (360,423)
2. Pink : Funhouse (350,573)
3. AC/DC : Black Ice (262,097)
4. Coldplay : Viva La Vida (222,835)
5. Soundtrack : Mamma Mia (140,333)
