Blur will do their first show together since 2000 on July 3, 2009 in London.
The line-up brings back to the fold Graham Coxon, who departed halfway through the last album, along with Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn.“I’ve got an idea of a few songs we will play but I think it is really important to give a clear picture next summer about what we were about, what got us excited, and try and play to our strength. You know, spread a little happiness really,” Damon Albarn said in a video at the band’s website.
The band will play in Hyde Park, London on July 3.
“It has been a really, really long time. Nearly 10 years,” Albarn said. “That is long enough to forget what it was like. I was looking at it. Some of the songs at the time that I didn’t feel fitted into any sort of sound feel quite 21st century in what they are about. So it will be interesting to play them”.
General tickets will go on sale on Friday December 12 but presale ticket to members of the Blur mailing list will be available from 9am December 10 (UK time).
Blur formed in Colchester in 1989 and recorded seven albums, the first being 1991’s ‘Leisure’.
