Kings Of Leon has stayed at number one with the biggest selling album of 2008 so far and will most likely end the year on top the way sales are going.
With a lot of heat from Pink in recent weeks, ‘Only By The Night’ may be running second place to ‘Funhouse’ on the weekly chart but the difference between Pink and Kings of Leon sales does not appear to be enough to boost Pink ahead by year’s end. However, AC/DC ‘Black Ice’ jumped ahead of Coldplay ‘Viva La Vida’ in total sales this week. ‘Black Ice’ is now officially the third biggest seller of the year pushing Coldplay back to 4th spot.
The interesting position is number 5. Metallica is hanging onto it by a thread and will most likely lose the spot to the Mamma Mia soundtrack for the 2008 chart.
What is interesting that it now appears only 4 albums look like selling double platinum this year in Australia.
Current sales for the top 6 are:
1. Kings Of Leon : Only By The Night (276374)
2. Pink : Funhouse (257,659)
3. AC/DC : Black Ice (203,825)
4. Coldplay : Viva La Vida (203,441)
5. Metallica : Death Magnetic (130,409)
6. Soundtrack : Mamma Mia (127,221)
