Michael Jackson will head to London next week to confront the son of the King of Bahrain who claims he breached a contract.
The 50-year-old singer will travel to London in attempt to counter the allegations made by Sheikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.He is accused of receiving advance payment for writing and recording new material for a new album for the Sheikh's record company but never delivered on the agreement.
The royal said he gave the singer a new Rolls Royce worth $120,000 (£75,000), and claimed that proceeds from the recording deal would enable Jackson to pay back loans he gave the star to help him out of financial difficulties. But Jackson said the payments were gifts and details of a project were never finalised.
The royal became a close friend of Mr Jackson during his six-month stay in Bahrain three years ago following his acquittal on several counts of molesting a 13-year-old in 2005.
He will appear in court on Monday after his lawyer announced that he had been cleared by his medical advisers to travel from the US and is expected to arrive in the UK over the weekend.
Earlier this week, the court heard that Mr Jackson may be suffering from an unspecified medical condition and that "even in a best-case scenario it would be unwise to travel".
An application for him to appear via video link was withdrawn.
