Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, son of the King of Bahrain, says he feels betrayed after Michael Jackson walked out on a recording deal he funded.
His Royal Highness is now suing the King of Pop.The Sheikh has launched a legal suit against Jackson to recover $7 million in advances for the singer’s next album.
Jackson was funded by the Sheikh as an advance on recording, shows and for a book. The singer lived in the Middle East following his child molestation trial.
Jackson wanted out of the contract one month into the agreement, the court heard.
A lawyer for Jackson claims that it was part of a joint venture that never materialised.
The case is being heard in London. Jackson has not gone to the UK claiming he is not well enough to travel.
Later this week, the court will hear a song recorded by Jackson early in the sessions, with lyrics written by the Prince.
The Jackson argument is based on “a misunderstanding of the business agreement by the Sheikh.
