Uber-manager Irving Azoff has reported for duty in his new job as Grand Poobah of Ticketmaster and he has already made his first executive decision.
Azoff’s new direction is to improve the image of the ticket selling giant and attempt to remove the bad perception of the company built up over many years of excess ticketing fees.Azoff is using his own act the Eagles to spearhead the changes.
For the new Eagles tour, Ticketmaster will eliminate all convenience fees and head towards a new model where the music fan will benefit from a simplified process.
Eagles shows from the January 12 gig in Hampton, VA will be without fees.
Fans who use the Ticketmaster print-at-home option will also have delivery and handling fees removed from the overall price.
“Ticketmaster is testing this program and is consulting with all our clients in the hope of rolling out the ‘all- in ticketing’ program for events nationwide,” said Sean Moriarty, Ticketmaster President and CEO. He continued, “We are honored that the Eagles are the first to kick off this unprecedented fan-friendly Ticketmaster program.”
Azoff assumed the role of CEO of Ticketmaster on October 30. In a statement, he said “The Eagles have long been committed to giving their loyal fans the best concert going experience. The Eagles use of ‘all-in ticketing’ is the first step in Ticketmaster’s transformation to an all-encompassing entertainment company to allow artists to connect to their fans in both new and innovative ways.”
Eagles dates for 09 so far are:
January 12, Hampton, VA
January 14, Charlotte, NC
January 16, Charleston, SC
