Indie stalwart Beck has admitted that the recording of his latest album, 'The Information', was a painful, arduous process.
Speaking to the BBC's Steve Lamacq, Beck explained, "It started out painless, and ended up being painful. It's as if we made the album once, and we made it again, and we made it a third time."He continued, "We started the record in 2003, and we got together annually, the producer and I. We combed over everything, and got rid of the things we were tired of, the things that seemed trite."
The producer in question is Nigel Godrich, best known for his work with Radiohead, having produced all of their albums since 1997's 'OK Computer'.
Speaking of Godrich, Beck said, "We work well together, because most of the time we're on the same channel and thinking the same things. I like working with him because he encourages me to do things that are less obvious, or [that] no one's going to get."
