Cedric Bixler-Zavala from spacey prog rockers The Mars Volta has come clean on drummer Jon Theodore's exit.
Theodore appeared on their recent intergalactic freak-out record 'Amputecture' but was booted by kingpins Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez prior to their most recent tour due to his party-hard attitude. Bixler-Zavala spoke to Gigwise, sniping, "We had five years of a tyranny of laziness, he just didn't like to throw down as much as we did. When he did care about the band it's when it was a money issue, that's when he would show up to a meeting."The scruffy psychedelic rocker also noted that not only did Theodore cut out early on a performance in Hamburg because he had partied too much, but he couldn't even show up for the meeting where the band was booting him out. Bixler-Zavala continued, "God bless him, he's a great drummer, but the guy was late for his own funeral as well: we were telling him he wasn't in the band he didn't even show up to that meeting - an analogy for the whole time we were in the band with him."
