Daryl Hall has a very special guest on the 13th edition of Live From Daryl’s House. It is his old partner in rhyme John Oates.
John has just released his second solo album ‘1000 Miles of Life’ and has popped over to Daryl’s to promote it.Daryl Hall’s ‘Live From Daryl’s House’ is one of the most innovative online TV shows. Each month, a guest drops into one of Daryl’s houses and together, he performs with them and they perform with him.
Over the past year, the show has featured Finger Eleven, Nick Lowe, KT Tunstall, Travis McCoy and Chromeo.
With John Oates, Hall & Oates perform some of their rarely heard old songs such as ‘Possession Obsession’ as well as four of John’s new songs.
They also cover The Mad Lads ‘I Want Someone’. “It’s the song that first brought John and I together as teenagers to form a group,” says Daryl. “We shared a love for the tune, which, in my mind, is true American folk music.”
“It was a favorite of Daryl and mine,” adds John. “We saw The Mad Lads perform the song at the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia. I remember it because they wore yellow suits with white gloves. When Daryl and I met, and began to learn a little bit about each other, we discovered we both loved it. We’ve never played it live before. This will be a first.”
The John Oates Live Daryl’s House episode will be available for streaming from livefromdarylshouse.com from November 15.
