German filmmaker Wim Wenders will bring the music to his soundtracks to life at ‘The Music of Wim Wenders - Live’ with Lou Reed in Berlin in December 3.
Speaking to Undercover at Popkomm, Wim says, “I’ve never done anything like it. We are going to play music from the very beginning. ‘Alice In The Cities’, ‘Wings of Desire’, ‘Until The End Of The World’ and up to the new one that I’m shooting. All with a giant orchestra of 60 people and some special guests like Lou Reed”.The careers of Lou Reed and Wim Wenders have been crossing each other for decades. “Lou and I have worked on four films together,” he says. “He appeared in ‘Faraway So Close’, he wrote a song for ‘Until The End Of The World’, he wrote a new song for ‘Faraway So Close’. ‘Million Dollar Hotel’ features ‘Satellite of Love’. Lou appeared in ‘Soul of a Man’ with two songs and he is in ‘The Palermo Shooting’ himself with a Velvet Underground song ‘Some Kind of Love’. So we go back a long way. We have worked on four or five films together and a lot of music we share together”.
Wenders made his first movie ‘Summer In The City’ in 1970.
Highlights of his career include ‘Paris, Texas’, ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ and ‘The Million Dollar Hotel’.
